As part of our ongoing commitment to inclusion, cultural awareness and reconciliation, we recently completed our Reconciliation Action Plan for Poppins Bush School. Creating awareness, understanding and embedding positive cultural practice as it relates to our First Nations people is an important aspect as we move forward and work towards reconciliation as a community and a Nation. This document can be accessed and viewed at Poppins Bush School.
As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan, we collaborated with the Preschool and Prep children at the centre to create an Acknowledgement to Country which reflected their understanding and knowlwdge around Kamilaroi people, First Nations people and what the land and Country represents to them. This was a wonderful experience which provoked much thought and discussion amongst the children as we utilised books, art and stories to assist. Please find attached a photo of our display with our new Acknowledgement and the children's voices and ideas.
