Nazareth House – 15th July
This week Charmaine, River, Dakota, Patrick, Kade, Lucy, Zara, Jeremiah and Freddy ventured to Nazareth House. For the past 2weeks Nazareth house has been putting on an art show “The Nazareth prize” where all of the residents and their families are able to showcase a variety of different artworks and displays. The children enjoyed exploring all of the residents’ creations. When the children were asked their favourites there were a mix of responses. Patrick was really intrigued by the photography entry, specifically the photograph of the mailbox. Kade liked “the black Lego car”. “That’s my favourite” Freddy exclaimed as he pointed towards an amazing nature painting.
After the children left the art gallery in awe, they began requesting to visit some of their beloved residents. Charmine requested to see “mama”, So we made our way down the elevator and down to see Josephine "Mama”. The children enjoyed telling the resident all about the art show and the specific pictures they loved. After seeing Mama Emma informed us that our beloved Ted had just returned from the doctors so they children insisted on paying Ted a visit and making sure he was feeling okay. They thoroughly enjoyed informing Ted all about the adventures they had gotten up to at Poppins throughout the week and Charmaine told Ted all about her new puppy. We also had to help Ted fix his TV. “My mummy presses the Blue button to fix it’ – Patrick.
After waving Ted goodbye for another week, we visited another resident friend of ours David. The children again recited all of their favourite artworks and told David that “you need to go see them”. David also began quizzing the children about the Olympics asking their favourite sport and who they might like to watch. The children began discussing all the different sports in the Olympics and what they might win.
As we said goodbye to David and made our way back to the bush, we saw dawn who adored our blue Poppins hats and vests and asked where she might find one for herself. We waved Dawn goodbye and promised to come visit again soon.
When we returned to Poppins the children began asking Miss Eliza when we might be able to invite our Nazareth residents to come visit our wonderful space at Poppins. We are collaborating with the Lifestyle and wellness team at Nazareth House to make this possible and arrange possible dates and experiences.
