All our rooms have now completed their transitions, and the children have settled so beautifully into their new spaces. It’s been a joy watching them explore, connect, and begin their year of learning. Our Educational Team has also begun the Programming and Documentation Journey for the year.

All our rooms have now completed their transitions, and the children have settled so beautifully into their new spaces. It’s been a joy watching them explore, connect, and begin their year of learning. Our Educational Team has also begun the Programming and Documentation Journey for the year.

When you’re next in reception, we’d love you to take a moment to read each room’s Learning Focus, also sent to you by your child’s teaching team. These focuses help guide our educators as they draw on our philosophy, early childhood knowledge, children’s emerging interests, spontaneous moments, and intentional experiences to create meaningful, age‑appropriate, and truly magical learning opportunities at Poppins Bush School.

We warmly encourage families to read their child’s Learning Focus and emails, and to enjoy the daily photos displayed each afternoon on our Television in reception. This shared documentation helps you connect with your child’s day, sparking conversations that build their confidence, communication, and curiosity.

We are the guardians of a society’s future wellbeing

Dr.Stuart Shanker, a prominent neuroscientist in the field of self-regulation…

“We are in the midst of an extraordinary understanding of the importance of a teacher in the early years of a child’s life. Whereas in early years educators were once seen as little more than substitute caregivers, watching over a child until the process of ‘proper’ education could begin, they are now being recognized as the guardians of a society’s future wellbeing. The more we learn about the development of the brain in the early years of life, the better we understand how the teacher plays a critical role in the development of the core neural systems that underpin a child’s mental and physical health throughout their lifespan” – Dr. Stuart Shanker

We play such a significant role in the lives of children and families. There is so much to consider when we are in this role. Understanding development, seeing the magic in everyday, creating spaces and experiences that spark interest and inquiry as well as developing language.

This year at Poppins Bush School we collaborated and researched new theories and ways to program and document children’s development and learning. While we continue to implement a learning focus and line of inquiry, we have reflected on our philosophy and current Early Childhood pedagogical research, and we refocused our educational practice to ensure this is reflected every day. We have a dynamic and inspirational educational team who are eager to begin sharing these new approaches to documentation with you and your children. We are excited for his year and the new ideas, wonderings, magic and creativity it will bring, and we are so excited to share this with our families!
