October Newsletter 2024

Welcome to our October Edition We are looking forward to another wonderful month at Bush School. September was a full month of events here at Poppins, with Photo Week taking place, we also had our excursion’s for our Preschool 2 and Prep rooms to Nazareth House and also visited Windmill Downs park to do our fundamental movement program. The children played Soccer, Oz Tag football and Basketball then had a picnic lunch. We had a Black and White day at Poppins in celebration of Miss Eliza Rugby team going to the grand finals which was well supported. Poppins 7th Birthday was celebrated on the 10th September with a BBQ and cake, all the children enjoy the BBQ sausages for lunch and Birthday cake for Afternoon tea. Thank you Miss Gail in our kitchen. We have had a new play structure installed in the Forest area by Miss Mary and her team. It looks amazing worth popping up to the forest area to have a look. The children are having a great time utilizing the new structure in their play. October we will be holding Grandparents week from the 28th October to the 1st November 2024 for grandparents to visit in the afternoon for afternoon tea, stories and fun.

Windmill Downs Park Excursion
Many children at Poppins are involved in Community teams and Sports, such as Soccer, Gymnastics, Hockey, Netball, and many of our educators are involved in weekend sports as well. We have observed the children engaging in more structured team games during their play, a reflection of their development as well as what they may be observing from older siblings and let’s not discount the impact of the Olympics! Team sports and games are wonderful as they promote communication, coordination, turn taking, and allow the children to enjoy a shared experience while building their physical strength and motor skills while stimulating neurons which also supports healthy body development in all areas.

The children went for their first excursion to the Windmill Downs Park to participate in some ball games, extending on the children’s interest in fundamental movement. The children have also been practicing their tag skills in the grassed areas of Poppins, improving their hand eye coordination and turn taking skills.
